What you will be responsible for:

Aro Homes is seeking a Buyside Strategist / Business Development Representative to support the Acquisition Department’s growth and expansion efforts throughout the Bay Area. This role will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new market opportunities, building relationships with real estate professionals and property owners, and supporting the acquisition team with market intelligence, feasibility analysis, and lead generation. Must be local to the San Francisco – Bay Area; hybrid in-office schedule.

The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, highly organized, and passionate about real estate development. You will report directly to the Acquisition Manager, and work closely with the Acquisition Team, Real Estate Team, and Permitting Team to help expand Aro Homes into new jurisdictions while strengthening our position in existing markets.

What you’ll do:
Jurisdictional Research & Market Expansion

  • Research and evaluate new jurisdictions for expansion opportunities.

  • Analyze zoning, planning, building code, and development standards to determine compatibility with Aro Homes’ product offering.

  • Monitor regulatory changes, housing policies, and entitlement requirements that may impact development feasibility.

  • Develop market assessments that identify attractive submarkets based on economics, demand, school districts, competitive landscape, and development constraints.

  • Create and maintain jurisdictional profiles, permitting guides, and market intelligence reports.

Realtor Outreach & Relationship Building

  • Develop and maintain relationships with residential real estate agents, brokers, wholesalers, and other referral sources.

  • Conduct proactive outreach to identify off-market and pre-market acquisition opportunities.

  • Attend industry events, networking functions, broker tours, and community meetings to expand Aro Homes’ network.

  • Serve as an ambassador for the Aro Homes brand within the local real estate community.

  • Maintain consistent communication with key market participants and provide updates on acquisition criteria and target markets.

  • Track outreach activity and referral relationships through CRM and reporting systems.

Lead Generation & Business Development

  • Identify and qualify potential acquisition opportunities through direct outreach, market research, and referral networks.

  • Support direct-to-owner campaigns and relationship-based sourcing efforts.

  • Assist in developing strategies to increase deal flow in existing and emerging markets.

  • Monitor MLS activity, market trends, and competitor acquisitions.

  • Generate actionable market intelligence that supports acquisition decisions and strategic planning.

Acquisition & Feasibility Support

  • Conduct preliminary property screening and feasibility analysis.

  • Evaluate zoning compliance, lot characteristics, development constraints, and potential risks.

  • Assist with site visits, property inspections, and due diligence efforts.

  • Prepare acquisition summaries, market analyses, and presentations for internal review.

  • Coordinate with acquisition, permitting, design, and construction teams to evaluate project viability.

  • Support underwriting efforts through data collection, research, and market analysis.

  • Maintain acquisition pipelines, tracking systems, and reporting tools.

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Business, Economics, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.

  • 2–5 years of experience in real estate acquisitions, business development, land development, brokerage, planning, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of residential real estate markets and development fundamentals.

  • Familiarity with zoning, entitlement, permitting, and planning processes is highly desirable.

  • Excellent interpersonal, networking, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong analytical and research capabilities with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable recommendations.

  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and opportunity identification.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and CRM platforms.

  • Ability to travel throughout the Bay Area for meetings, site visits, and networking events.


Preferred:

  • Experience working for a residential homebuilder, real estate developer, brokerage, or land acquisition team.

  • Knowledge of Bay Area zoning and entitlement processes.

  • Existing network of realtor, broker, or development industry relationships.

  • Experience with market research, GIS tools, or real estate data platforms.
