Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Work with customers to understand and analyze their requirements and prepare system specifications
- Lead the team to create concept designs and DFM of automation equipment, and present designs to customers
- Lead the team to create detailed design and review the designs. Closely work with customers to prepare DFM and detailed designs
- Provide technical credibility during customer meetings and clearly identify and discuss with customers any questions, issues, and challenges
- Work with vendors for procurement, manufacturing, and delivery of equipment, and participate in vendor development
- Assist to setup the relevant quality systems and process to create a high-performance team and high-quality systems.
- Communicate in a clear and timely manner with customers and other stakeholders during all phases of a project
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team (Electrical, Mechanical, Optics, Software and other engineering fields as may be relevant for the project)
- Support functional leadership in recruitment, resource management and skill development
- Lead, advise and train junior engineers
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors degree or higher, in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
Experience:
- At least 5 years professional experience in mechanical design of automation equipment
- Broad understanding of electromechanical, optics, electrical, mechanical and software systems
- Good understanding of system design, aesthetics and ergonomics
- Experience in automation of manufacturing for consumer electronics, semiconductor and medical domains will be a plus
Technical/Functional Competency:
- Responsible for design of equipment, calculation of parameters and selection of components
- Hands on with CAD modelling software (preferably SolidWorks)
- Proficiency in mechanical design principles, and ability to carry out detailed designs and create DFM
- Proficiency in designs using sheet metal, and surface treatment
- Experience in creating fabrication drawings and supervising assembly technicians to install and debug equipment
- Experience in selection of optimal components for automation equipment, and prepare BoM and Quote
- Tooling and fixture development experience
- Ability to quickly respond to changes and a strong sense of responsibility
- Adherence to project schedule and quality requirements, progress reporting
- Troubleshoot and solve problems in equipment
- Customer Management and presentation skills
- Familiarity with visual inspection systems will be a plus
- Familiarity with testing techniques like air/water leak tests will be a plus
