The Impact of Your Work:

Successful execution by you and your team will lead to the discovery of novel antibody designs that will progress to the clinic and have the potential to become life-saving medicines for people in need. You will play a critical role in maturing a novel antibody modality that has the potential to unlock new therapeutic targets.

The Contribution You Will Make:

BioLoomics is seeking a Research Associate II to provide support for our Protein purification and transfection team. You will be responsible for routine cell maintenance as well as sample and inventory management for all company protein lots. You will work closely with the Protein Principal Scientist and with the DNA and Cell Biology teams. Your work will support protein science including but not limited to transient protein expression, in-vitro screening, in-vivo pharmacology sample prep and will be critical in the development and validation of new therapeutic antibodies. Our work includes exposure and participation in innovative techniques, including novel site-specific bioconjugation. This position is 100% on-site, M-F with flexible hours, and occasional weekend hours.

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining mammalian cell culture operations for 1-3 expression strains, including but not limited to transient protein expression, and general cell husbandry (thawing, freezing, passaging, verifying cell count and viability, seeding, and cataloging.)

  • General protein science including but not limited to purification, conjugation, and characterization (examples include ProteinA antibody purification, maleimide chemistry, and analytical high-performance liquid chromatography).

  • Maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Sample and inventory management with impeccable organization and cataloging skills.

  • General Protein Lab facility maintenance.

  • Following, generating, and modifying SOPs as necessary.

The Skills & Experience You Will Bring to Our Company:

  • B.A./B.S./M.S. in a Life science (Biochemistry, Cell Biology) with 3 years of laboratory experience and preference for a minimum of 1 year protein expression/purification and/or protein characterization experience.

  • Good understanding of fundamental protein science; mAbs, purification, basic characterization such as A280, protein aggregation, BCA, and buffer preparation/ pH work.

  • Willingness to run Python scripts is a requirement; Python script development experience is highly desirable (but not required).

  • Well-developed organization and verbal communication skills. Experience maintaining scientific documentation and electronic laboratory notebooks.
