The Field Technician installs, maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots irrigation sensor systems. This includes above-canopy evapotranspiration sensors and below-ground soil-moisture probes. The role is primarily vineyard-based but does include occasional visits to orchards and field-crop sites. The technician will coordinate with growers directly for access and to ensure that safety procedures are implemented in order to provide high-quality service.

This territory covers Napa Valley, Sonoma County, and occasional travel to Clearlake, Sacramento, Stockton/Lodi, and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installs, removes, and performs seasonal reinstallation of sensor systems
  • Diagnose and repair on-site mechanical, electrical, and connectivity issues.
  • Document all installations, service visits, repairs, and configuration changes in the company's systems: Zoho, RouteIQ, and Slack
  • Contact growers directly to request access and coordinate safe entry
  • Manage inventory, maintain company service vehicle, tools, parts, and supplies utilized in service calls
  • Follow safety standards, company policies, and field-work protocols-Assist in sensor production, warehouse maintenance, and occasional shipping and receiving
  • Share feedback with Engineering and Support teams on ongoing issues, field conditions, and areas for improvement

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Hands-on experience in agriculture, field installations, sensors, electronics, communications, or similar equipment
  • Solid mechanical, electrical, and/or electronics aptitude
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to work independently in remote field environments
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with growers and internal teams
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate service documentation
  • Ability to navigate remote sites and access points not listed on maps — including unmarked easements, vineyards, and ranch roads — with very frequent off-road driving (4x4 required)

Physical / Working Conditions

  • Comfortable working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain
  • Regular driving between job sites (on- and off-road; 4x4 required)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks for extended periods
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
