Karius is a private life sciences company pioneering the use of microbial cell-free nucleic acid-based metagenomics to revolutionize diagnosis and management of infectious diseases, rapidly and efficiently advancing clinical evidence to accelerate technology adoption and reimbursement, and leveraging Karius’ technology platform to identify new biomarkers for infectious and non-infectious diseases. Using a routine blood sample the current Karius Test can rapidly and non-invasively identify and quantitate >1000 bacterial, DNA-based viral, fungal, and parasitic human pathogens as well as identify important antimicrobial resistance markers.
Position Summary
Karius is operating at the edge of what is now known to be possible in infectious disease diagnostics. As the IT Support Specialist, you will be the dedicated Information Technology support in the company that is expanding and growing. You will be primarily responsible for all new hire set-up, IT helpdesk support, and IT asset tracking. In addition, you will be helping with IT systems management and troubleshooting.

Reports to: Sr. Director, IT & Security
Location: Redwood City, CA
Primary Responsibilities
• Onboarding and offboarding – manage user experience and shipping / collecting computer equipment.
• Desktop support for Mac and Windows computers.
• IT System Support including G-Suite, Okta, Jamf, Slack, Jira, Confluence, Office365, and dozens of other cloud-based applications.
• Managing user endpoint devices such as Macbooks, iPads, and PC laptops.
• Respond to all helpdesk request tickets promptly to support onsite and remote users.
• Assist in supporting lab equipment such as sequencers, hamiltons, accessioning stations, etc.
• Ensure laptops have the latest OS and security patches using MDM software or walking users through upgrading their laptops.
• Ensure all laptops are secure using cloud security software/hardware solutions.
• Manage asset tracking of IT hardware and software.
• Enforcement of company policies.
• Develop and follow policies and standard operating procedures.
• Support cyber security awareness training for Karius employees and contractors.
• Support users’ network connectivity and the operations of printers.
• Manage conference room iPAD booking hardware/software and the Zoom room equipment.
• Provide leadership/board of director meetings IT Support. Assist in setup, and coordination with executive assistant and facilities to ensure a great meeting experience for all .
• Manage IT Dashboard to keep track of the IT Budget, Cloud application licenses, renewal dates, etc.
• Work with IT and Engineering leadership to submit IT-related POs .
• Manage accessory purchases through a Corporate IT Amazon account.
• Manage an IT Shared folder with all IT contracts for all IT purchases for both Hardware and software
• Maintain the IT FAQ’s pages.
• Support the IT Security team in maintaining information security and regulatory compliance.
• Send out biweekly IT tips to the organization.
• Cross-train with the IT System Administrators to provide the company a continuous IT support coverage during vacations or sick days.
• Report security incidents and potential policy violations to his/her manager and the Information Security Officer.
• Provide onsite IT support to the organization with a minimum of 40 hours per week. This position is an onsite position.

Physical Requirements
Subject to extended periods of sitting and/or standing, vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Ability to lift 25 pounds. Work is generally performed in an office, lab or clinical environment.
Position Requirements
• Associate degree in a technical field preferred.
• 3+ years’ experience as a Level I or II IT Systems Support.
• Solid Mac OS and Microsoft Windows Knowledge and experience.
• General familiarity with the networking and computing platforms in use at Karius .
• Friendly attitude and quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience in a fast-paced, growth environment.
• Experience working in an organization with regulatory compliance such as HIPAA, SOX, etc.
• Comfortable working with all levels of employees including senior-level executives.
• Good understanding of cloud-based applications.
• Understanding of best security practices.
• Experience with MDM devices such as iPads, iPhones, Androids, Macbooks, etc.
• Experience with JAMF, Okta, Google Suite, Box, Atlassian and Slack.
