The Job

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to manage a variety of payroll and HR responsibilities, including payroll entry, reconciliation, troubleshooting, and process enhancement. This position will report to the Team Lead, Payroll Operations and have the opportunity to partner with various stakeholders across the organization, helping to drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate is deadline driven and will exhibit a keen attention to detail and sense of urgency.

Your Day-to-Day Role

  • Accurately process and audit the United States bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll in a timely manner.
  • Ensure payroll activities comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Address and resolve payroll, deductions, benefits and tax inquiries, providing viable solutions to employee questions and concerns
  • Assist the benefits team with Leave of Absence calculations
  • Set up tax jurisdictions in Workday as needed
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and other regulatory reports as needed
  • Collect data for internal and external audits, special projects, and ad hoc payroll reports
  • Collaborate with Finance stakeholders to support audits and ensure efficient processes are followed
  • Maintain payroll records according to record retention policy and employer obligations based on employment laws
  • Partner with Team Lead and Global Payroll provider to accurately process international payrolls in a timely manner
  • Record Equity transactions
  • Prepare, maintain and distribute payroll reports to management and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency.

Your Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of experience owning the payroll process for a company of 400+ employees
  • Knowledge of Multi-state payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Workday, Oracle, SAP etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

Important Details

This is a full-time position. The ideal candidate will work out of our Englewood Cliffs, NJ office a minimum of 3 days per week to maximize collaboration and interaction with the business. Travel may be required.
