About the role

Plenty is looking for a Senior Manager, Installation and Integration Engineering to join our Installation & Integration team. The Installation and Integration Engineering team is part of the Deployment Organization that is responsible for constructing, equipping and commissioning indoor, vertical farms. In this role, you will lead a team of field engineers installing and starting up OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) and custom equipment. The responsibilities start from the Factory Acceptance Test continuing through delivery and install, finishing with a complete commissioning and hand over to the Operations team.

What you'll do

  • Manage, direct, and coordinate the activities of Installation & Integration engineers, facilitating effective installation and commissioning of OEM and IP (Intellectual Property) equipment to enable end-to-end farm manufacturing process
  • Collaborate with program managers, technical program managers, growers, system architects and farm operations staff to develop system requirements and set objectives that meet our business’s goals
  • Approve and supervise implementation of acceptance testing plans and commissioning protocols for the different farm equipment
  • Coordinate with controls and software area managers to integrate equipment to our customized data systems
  • Define and implement a plan to develop process documentation (Standard Operating and Cleaning Procedures) and equipment maintenance manuals and procedures
  • Approve list of overall line equipment spares list and first batch of spares
  • Partner with Construction Manager to define utility requirements (electrical, compressed air, water, etc.) and coordinate the line equipment installation plan and initial commissioning (functional testing)
  • Validate line level process, throughput and reliability
  • Hand off validated production line to the Operations Team for operation and the Process Integration Team for yield validation
  • Ensure that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to your team
  • Assess the skills of your team against company objectives and drive hiring of new team members
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
  • Others duties as assigned

What you'll bring to the table

  • 8+ years of experience designing and supporting product development programs in food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and/or light industrial sectors
  • Education or experience equivalent to B.S. or higher degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial engineering or a closely related field
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a solid understanding of thermal, fluids and mechanical engineering
  • Someone who uses data and modeling to drive product decisions
  • Capability and interest in working as both a leader and occasional individual contributor. Our teams are small and some situations are best handled by managers who can dive deep into design details when needed.
  • A positive individual with a bias towards collaboration and action
  • A manager interested in a capable of mentoring engineers who are developing their skills
