About Plenty

Plenty is looking for a Manager of Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) to join our Operations team with excellent cross-functional alignment to our Commercial and Supply Chain teams. The mission of the team is to enable and accelerate profitable growth, and you will be critical in scaling up our forecasting and planning capabilities to ensure we can deliver on our customer and company commitments.

As the Manager of S&OP, you will be responsible for building and leading the company’s mission-critical planning process, which will enable the expansion of the world’s most advanced vertical farm in Compton, CA and future farms. An effective and efficient S&OP program is a critical driver of the success of Plenty, and this role will have a big impact and executive visibility.

What you'll do

S&OP Leadership

Lead the company’s S&OP program by setting the right S&OP strategy and targets for the Compton farm & future farms and delivering on results in this unique manufacturing environment with highly perishable products
Build an S&OP “product” that can be deployed in the Compton farm & future farms and becomes part of farm deployment package; this includes building processes, data, and software systems that scale as the Compton farm ramps and future farms launch
Drive the company to the right cross-functional strategic decisions (e.g., customer fill rate vs. product surplus, internal hold times vs. inventory space)
Partner closely with Sales/BD, Marketing, Farm Operations, Finance and other functions to build planning capabilities across the company and ensure S&OP alignment with other planning and continuous improvement workstreams
Provide guidance on future farm design given S&OP strategy and targets
Develop an understanding of, and communicate out, the intricacies of farm capability management and capacity to group leaders

S&OP Execution

Lead weekly S&OP meeting with executive team
Ingest the demand plan from the Commercial organization, and ensure S&OP is planning for base demand, promotions, launches, etc.
Develop a fully integrated supply planning practice to develop 1 week to 18 month supply forecasts to enable seeding, transplanting, harvesting, R&D trials, sales/revenue planning, and direct materials planning
Bring together the stakeholders responsible for creating supply and demand forecasts/plans as required based on changing supply and demand signals
Build out accurate and efficient risk-management models to assess fulfillment implications of S&OP forecasts and balance risk of over/under-supply
Identify opportunities to drive operational and economic efficiencies and deliver on stated goals
Build out the underlying data and modeling strategy and structure to effectively collect and refine forecasting inputs and drive accurate forecasts

Daily Trade Desk and Ordering

Facilitate workflow, ensuring all critical stakeholders are present and proactively flagging issues both in meeting and up to leadership when necessary
Develop daily production plan and adjust as required based on pack-out results and commercial priorities
Partner with commercial, warehousing, and logistics to ensure orders are fulfilled properly
Track action items and ensure completion prior to next meeting

S&OP as a Product

Take all the learnings from the best practices above, and work with software and data teams to build out a S&OP product that can scale with future farms

Drive Metric Dashboarding and Accuracy

Validate data streams and integrate into dashboard metrics critical to the success of the S&OP program and overall CPT Farm
Ingest requests for new metrics and dashboards as required and work with the software team to generate them
Assist or run root cause analysis on incorrect data streams when necessary, working cross functionally to do so if need be

Bringing Teams Together

Build a small but high performing team of Supply Planners, and Data Analysts
Execute as an individual contributor and get things done as needed in this fast growth environment
Serve as an all-around team player that can jump into new opportunities as they arise
Travel up to 15% of the time future travel to future farm sites; on-site at the Compton farm at least 3x per week
Others duties as assigned

What you'll bring to the table

5+ years of experience in the areas of S&OP, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, ideally in a food and/or perishable environment
Demonstrated track record in influencing teams and working effectively across all functions and organizations
Experience in leading planning systems design and deployment using enterprise systems i.e. SAP, Anaplan, Kinaxis, O9, IBP or equivalent
Demonstrated skills in facilitating cross-functional meetings with executives
Excellent executive communication skills and ability to drive effective executive alignment on business priorities
Excellent quantitative analysis and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability in performing in a fast-paced, changing, and demanding environment

Food & Safety Requirements

Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations

Conduct monitoring activities to assure finished product comply with food safety and quality specifications
Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system

Plenty’s target compensation range for this role is $163,900 - $180,300 for this location. Actual compensation is commensurate with experience and alignment with role requirements.
