The world still has coverage blind spots. You could help eliminate them at Skylo.

Skylo has pioneered a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity. We connect smartphones and IoT devices directly to satellites. No special hardware, no entirely new networks. Just billions of existing devices, suddenly reachable anywhere on Earth. We're not building toward this future. We're already in it.

Our direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, covering more than 72 million square kilometers, in partnership with leading satellite operators, mobile network operators, Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs worldwide. And we're just getting started.

At the heart of it all is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN: a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that seamlessly bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. It's the infrastructure that makes true anywhere, anytime connectivity possible.

When you join Skylo, you'll work at the intersection of three markets reshaping how the world stays connected: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.

This is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works

About Skylo

Skylo is a global Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) service provider based in Mountain View, CA, that offers a service allowing smartphone and IoT cellular devices to connect directly over existing satellites. Our direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, providing more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage. We partner with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs.

Our network is managed by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, which features a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. We provide an anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.

This role is located in our Bangalore office, where we are on-site three days a week.

Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo

In this role, you will be a key contributor to the design, architecture, and implementation of the critical services of Skylo’s Satellite Network. You will be instrumental in creating best-in-class software infrastructure solutions, combining your deep technical knowledge with a passion for excellence. Your work will directly support the development of cloud services from ingesting and processing heavy data streams on the backend. You will also contribute to building cloud systems that are resilient, secure, and address data privacy.

How You Will Contribute

  • Contribute to the design, build, and optimize high-throughput, real-time data pipelines to process and aggregate network and system telemetry.

  • Work closely with engineers, implementing best practices and actively engaging in design and code reviews.

  • Design and develop distributed application services, microservices, and scalable database systems and contribute to architectural decisions for our observability platform to ensure it is scalable, reliable, and maintainable

  • Take ownership of features, from backend API design and database modeling to frontend implementation and user experience.

  • Work with a diverse set of technologies, including backend languages (Python, Go, Java), messaging brokers (Kafka, GCP Pub/Sub), and databases (SQL and NoSQL).

  • Define, design, and implement REST APIs, building out Swagger UI and Postman collections.

  • Contribute to the design and development of distributed application services, microservices, and scalable database systems. You will also define, design, and implement REST APIs.

  • Integrate with third-party application systems using REST APIs and/or messaging queues.

  • Define and execute component test scenarios and test cases, including unit testing, code coverage, and API test automation.

  • Participate in build and deployment processes using tools like Jira, Jenkins, GCR/GKE.

  • Enforce security best practices in both software development and deployment.

  • Drive observability using Prometheus and log/data collectors for monitoring and diagnostics.

  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies to improve system performance and developer productivity.

What We Look For

  • 2-5 years of experience in professional software development with a focus on object-oriented programming (OOP) and distributed microservices.

  • A Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
