About the Role

SoFi’s Credit department manages credit risk activities for our lending products (Personal Loan, Student Loan Refinance, Private Student Loan, Credit Card, and Mortgage), including credit strategies and policies for new account origination and portfolio management, collections and recoveries, and risk and operational data science. The team designs industry leading data driven strategies and services to drive revenue growth and ensure the credit performance is aligned with the company’s risk appetite, and helps create the products and experiences that put our members’ interests first.

The Senior Director of Risk Management will head the account management for SoFi’s Credit Card products and collaborate with business partners to drive revenue, control risk, and provide value to the company and customers.

This role reports directly to the Head of Credit for Unsecured Lending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control Risk and Drive Performance Outcomes … Mitigate loss and responsibly grow revenue by leading the team to develop value-added risk strategies in Credit Card Account Management across all card products, such as credit line increase, credit line decrease, account closure, authorizations, and balance transfer. Monitor the performance of strategies and portfolios. Communicate results and close issues. Identify opportunities and drive actions.
  • Data Driven… Your team’s deep analysis will power the future of risk management with a real-time data ecosystem – including internal, bureau, and alternative data sources and uses.
  • Iterate, learn, innovate… Bring your brightest ideas to build best-in-class risk strategies. Constantly evaluate the strategy performance, test new strategies, and optimize.
  • Lead… Manage a team of senior risk managers and analysts to effectively drive and execute business objectives. We are recruiting the best, brightest, and passionately quantitative team members.
  • Collaboration… Work collaboratively with the Data Science team to design new machine learning models. Partner closely with implementation teams to accurately deploy new strategies. Work with other business partners across Business Unit, Capital Markets, Finance, Legal and Compliance etc. to deliver successful business results.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: 12+ years of risk strategy experience in credit cards and a strong background in credit card portfolio / existing account management
  • A history of success in leading initiatives and driving results
  • Strong analytical skills and drive business results through data-driven business proposals
  • Strong business acumen in credit card
  • Record of success to lead, mentor, and motivate team members
  • Strong communications and presentation skills; ability to deliver business proposals and present results
  • Ability to collaborate well with business partners and influence business decisions
  • Preferred: knowledge in Decision Trees, Tableau, SQL or Python
  • Preferred: 15+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline; or 12+ years of related experience with an advanced degree in an analytical discipline
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
