SoFi is a values-driven company on a mission to help our members get their money right. We create modern financial products and services that help people borrow, save, spend, invest, and protect their money better, so that they can achieve financial independence and realize their ambitions—from owning a home to saving for retirement, paying off their student loans, and more.

The opportunity
At SoFi, you’ll become part of a new kind of finance company whose ambition is to help our members achieve financial independence and reach their goals. We aim to be at the center of our members’ financial lives, and to help every member get their money right.

We are in an exciting phase as we rethink our app, overall strategy, and the technology. The work happening within the Platform organization is critical to our product experience, creating frameworks and key functionality that impact how our SoFi product ecosystem works. This includes solving for how we communicate & personalize the member experience, how we ensure safety and trust, and how we enable our members to get help in a timely manner, regardless of what products that member uses.

As part of the next phase of our growth, we are looking for a Senior Staff Product Designer to shape the foundation of our products that will enable teams to build robust, safe and cohesive member-facing experiences. At this level, you’re considered a leader in the design organization so you’ll have responsibility to help influence and mature the Design Organization. This includes coordinating with designers across product areas to align with the larger SoFi ecosystem and acting as mentor to various designers in the organization. In addition you will work closely with research, product and engineering teams to build a world-class member experience.

SoFi has achieved significant growth, with ambitious plans ahead, but to continue this growth we need great talent. And that starts with you.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Design Manager, Research, Product Management, and Engineering partners and be able to quickly iterate based on feedback
  • Develop user-centered design solutions based on research, member insights, and industry best-practices
  • Present design concepts and user journey mapping, and clearly communicate design intent through detailed specs and presentation documents
  • Collaborate with other product designers working on other projects to drive alignment and consistency across the entire user experience
  • Mentor and grow the team.

Qualification and experience

  • 12+ yrs experience of experience working in product design/UX roles
  • Strong design point of view, craft and aesthetics across all common platforms (Android, iOS, & Responsive Web)
  • Track record for leadership -- delivering end to end solutions from initial concepts to measurable outcomes
  • Strong collaboration & influence skills across cross-functional teams including research, product management, engineering and marketing
  • Ability to leverage user research, user needs and product data to inform product definition and design solutions.
  • Ability to navigate and manage senior leadership, representing design perspective and advocating for user needs in the context of business and technology drivers
  • Strong expertise in common design tools (ie Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, etc)
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment using tools like Jira and Confluence
  • A portfolio URL or PDF to submit with application with examples of mobile and responsive web product design

Even better

  • Experience working on mobile-first financial products
