About the Job
Company Description:
Think Bioscience is a fully integrated drug discovery company dedicated to developing life-saving medicines. Our creative, multidisciplinary team combines applied microbiology, enzymology, multi-dimensional screens, and data science to drug “undruggable” targets. Our best-in-class platform delivers novel scaffolds and pockets that accelerate drug development.

We are passionate about using innovative science to improve the lives of patients. Our team is our core—the key to our success. If you share our passion, let’s work together.

About the Position:
This position will oversee medicinal chemistry by providing strategic leadership in the design, synthesis, and optimization of small-molecule therapeutics. The candidate should have experience collaborating with teams skilled in enzymology, biophysics, and computational chemistry, and a proven track record of guiding medicinal chemistry efforts from early discovery to IND filings. You will work with the CSO, mentor junior staff, drive innovation internally and externally, and ensure that program milestones are met on time and under budget.

  • Oversee and manage all medicinal chemistry, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Mentor a team of internal and external medicinal chemists, providing strategic and technical guidance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external experts in enzymology, biophysics, computational chemistry, and data science, and integrate new methods into the drug discovery process.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external collaborators, CROs, academic institutions, and experts in biophysical techniques.
  • Lead the optimization of hits from our discovery platform into development candidates.
  • Leverage structural and computational insights to improve key drug attributes. Guide biological testing, ADME characterization, and other compound profiling.
  • Contribute to study reports, patent applications, and scientific publications.
  • Contribute to target selection, platform development, and portfolio strategy.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in medicinal chemistry and biophysical methods, including computational tools and high-throughput biochemical methods, and integrate cutting-edge techniques and technologies into Think Bioscience's discovery processes.
  • Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech industries, with a proven track record in drug discovery, development of leads and candidates, and of leveraging innovative technologies to advance medicinal chemistry campaigns.
  • Track record of delivering novel agents into clinical development.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in each stage of preclinical drug development, with the ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of the drug discovery process, from target identification to IND filing, with significant experience working with computational chemists and biophysicists.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience managing scientific collaborations and CRO outsourcing.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with patent applications and IP strategy for small molecule therapeutics.
What We Offer:
  • Collaborative environment for innovative science and a mission-drive company.
  • Ability to play a leadership role in a fast-growing startup.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package, including a salary range of $160,000 - $250,000 per year. (title and salary commensurate with experience)
