About The RoleThis is a once-in-a-career opportunity to join us as an integral part of a groundbreaking technology company engaged in innovative issues, and passionate about solving some of the biggest challenges in the world.We are looking for an expert lawyer with a strong background in EU law applicable to digital platforms and Antitrust law and with a proven track record of success to support Uber’s businesses.This position is based in Amsterdam, our EMEA HQ, and you will need to be a qualified EU lawyer.
What You'll Do
- Support the EU and Antitrust team across the broad range of complex legal issues impacting all Uber lines of business (mobility and delivery).
- Understand, interpret and apply EU laws and regulations as applicable to Uber’s business in the EU.
- Act as a legal point of contact for Uber’s Brussels-based Policy team providing expert guidance on the interpretation and application of EU legislation which is relevant to Uber’s operations.
- Collaborate with our in-house specialists across Uber’s Global Legal team, including Employment, Privacy, and Payments.
- Work closely with the Operations, Marketing, Tax and Communications teams.
- Be a trusted adviser to the business, and provide critical and proactive legal and strategic input on a wide range of complex issues and initiatives for our businesses. It’s our job to peer around corners for the business and ensure that we are well-positioned for the future.
- Balance the need for rigorous compliance with pragmatic, creative advice to move the business forward and allow for continuous innovation and development.
- This is a hands-on role and you will handle significant and highly complex matters and challenges.
- Relevant experience from either a law firm and/or in-house.
- In-depth understanding of the application of EU law to digital platforms.
- Ability to spot issues, get to the heart of a matter, and articulate plans to address them.
- Collaborative approach with both business and legal groups, with strong ability to build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others.
- Excellent legal and business judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills, encouraging cooperation across organizations and functions.
- Confidence operating in a fast-paced environment.
- This is not your typical in-house role; it is a dynamic, fast-paced environment and needs a candidate who is agile and able to balance multiple projects, prioritize quickly to address shifting business needs and be a pro-active, solution-driven lawyer that thrives in high-impact / high-profile situations.
- Ability to work fluently in English.
