About The RoleRetail merchandising is a rapidly growing need within our Retail (New Verticals) business, focussed on giving consumers easy access to high quality selection of merchants and products across Grocery, Convenience, Drugstores and more. As a Merchandising Manager, you will play a crucial role in curating, promoting, and maximizing the visibility of merchants and products in the app to drive consumer engagement and store conversion. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product, Sales and Operations, to deliver a seamless and personalized experience. Your Impact In Role
  • Drive the in-app merchandising and content strategy to showcase the most relevant and high-converting stores and products to consumers. Measure the impact of merchandising initiatives on user engagement, conversion and gross bookings
  • Identify and recommend optimisations, develop programs based on consumer insights, competitive audits or market trends, category analysis and assessment of business results
  • Lead the execution for large-scale programs across Retail. Orchestrate and bring together the work of a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders including Operations, Product, Sales, Support, Communications and Legal while driving accountability to ensure deadlines are met
  • Experimentation: perform analysis and experiments, proactively identify opportunities for performance improvement and find growth opportunities for the business
  • Work with Product teams to guide the development of new features based on business and consumer needs; project manage cross-functional work streams for key product roll-outs
  • Establish and leverage collaborative relationships with merchants in Japan and partner stakeholders
Experience You'll Bring
  • 5+ years experience in marketing, merchandising, operations, and/or strategy roles with a desire to expand skill set; experience in eCommerce, grocery, or CPG merchandising is big plus
  • Experience in category management, defining merchandising strategy, proven commercial acumen
  • Unparalleled business judgment and critical thinking with the ability to use data and new information to develop strategies and make decisions
  • Program and project management - proven track record of leading cross-functional, high-impact projects. Setting goals, organizing teams, leading execution, setting governance and reporting. Cross-cultural experience is a big plus.
  • An analytical mindset and strong business acumen with experience using SQL and advanced excel; being hands on with the tools will be crucial to your success in this role
  • A go-getter attitude; you’re willing to take a hands-on approach to get the job done and bias towards action
  • Highly collaborative; you know how to engage and mobilize multiple teams to drive execution towards shared goals
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluent speaking & writing in both English and Japanese
  • Advanced understanding of how site merchandising, selection, catalog, item data, and digital products work
  • Understanding of Merchandising strategy, planning, and execution and the underlying technology used to deliver Merchandising experiences
  • Understanding of customer, market, and industry trends and emerging challenges within Grocery and Merchandising environments
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
  • Strong experience building and executing complex processes
  • Proven ability to balance multiple critical tasks and consistently delivering against hard deadlines
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills - building deep, trust-based relationships with territory and cross functional teams
