About The RoleMarketplace Logistics is a central pillar to Uber’s core mobility and delivery products. As the central brain of the company, we are the decision-makers enabling seamless movement from point A to point B for all Uber orders, from UberEats to new verticals such as grocery. We handle all the logic from making the dispatch, predicting how long a delivery might take, and estimating optimal pickup times for orders.At a high level the team is leveraging real-time marketplace dynamics to shape consumer behavior and optimize business trade-offs. We continuously strive to enhance the experience for all marketplace users, including consumers, merchants, and couriers. This includes building consumer facing products, optimizing our core algorithms and crafting predictive models for order lifecycle events.The team addresses large-scale variations of the traveling salesperson problem in real-time.At any given time, we have tens of thousands of delivery requests and couriers looking for work in a city. Our jobs are to write software that identifies who is the best driver to complete a given request, how to batch trips or orders together that have similar routes, and when the best time is to make this decision. As you could imagine, solving this hard problem creates many fascinating problems around how to search the problem space, how to rapidly reach a near-optimal solution, and how to scale this process to operate within seconds. To do this, our team uses a wide variety of innovative technologies. What The Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

• What the Candidate Will Do --—
• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable software solutions
• Collaborate with product managers, cross engineering teams, data scientists and other partners to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Identify opportunities and lead of the entire development lifecycle end-to-end, from architecture design and coding to testing and deployment
• Conduct thorough code reviews, offering constructive feedback to maintain high code quality and elevate coding standards
• Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact on our software systems and recommending appropriate integrations or improvements
• Mentor and guide other engineers, providing technical leadership and encouraging a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment
• Basic Qualifications --—
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
• 7+ years of experience in software engineering
• Experience with one of the following programming languages: Java, Go, C/C++, Python. Good scripting skills and ability to pick up new ones
