Senior Software Engineer - Mobile Security

About the Role
Uber is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Mobile Security team. As a member of the team, you will design and build industry-leading technology to secure our marketplace. You will be challenged to find and build solutions that can effectively detect, deter, and block bad actors while preserving a frictionless experience for good users. One example is enforcing software/hardware integrity standards (think rooted devices, modded apps, emulators). You will have the opportunity to work across many parts of Uber’s tech stack, with the expectation that you will contribute code to our Android apps, iOS apps, and backend services. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide guidance to engineers across the company, and to ensure best practices are followed in the mobile security space.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and deploy anti-abuse systems to accurately detect rooted devices, jailbroken devices, modded apps, emulators, and other threats to Uber’s marketplace.
- Identify novel attacks in the mobile space and find solutions to them.
- Work closely with outside teams to drive the adoption of the latest Mobile Security technology.
- Maintain and uplevel existing Mobile Security and related backend services.
- Mentor junior engineers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional experience of 5+ years.
- Proficient in Golang, Swift, or Kotlin.
- Experience working in an adversarial (anti-abuse) space.
- Firm grasp on the security models of iOS and Android.
- Ability to communicate ideas and proposals concisely to a wide range of audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Real-world experience in reverse engineering.
- Working knowledge of applied cryptography.
- Experience designing, implementing, and deploying production-quality mobile fullstack and backend systems.
- Exposure to other security domains: web security, network security, embedded security.

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$185,000 per year - USD$205,500 per year.
