About the Role

The Public Policy Sr. Associate will take ownership of a critical, high-priority policy charter at a pan-India level. In this strategic role, you will be responsible for architecting comprehensive, long-term advocacy strategies and working in close lockstep with our regional State Policy Leads to ensure seamless execution on the ground. Additionally, you will champion a vital core work charter dedicated to union engagement, proactively building relationships with organized labor groups and gig-worker associations to safeguard the company’s corporate reputation and operational footprint across the country.

What You'll Do

  1. National Strategy & Advocacy: Design and own the overarching Pan-India public policy advocacy strategy for a critical business priority, translating macro-level regulatory challenges into actionable national campaigns. Given the dynamic nature of the industry, the candidate must be comfortable handling ambiguity and shifting between varied policy portfolios (e.g. bike taxis, social security, or taxation).
  2. State-Level Execution & Partnership: Partner deeply with regional and State Policy Leads to contextualize, deploy, and execute the national strategy across diverse state jurisdictions, respecting local socio-political nuances.
  3. Union Engagement Portfolio: Lead the strategic union engagement work charter; establish proactive communication channels with trade unions, transport associations, and gig-worker groups to foster constructive dialogue and mitigate reputational risks. You would own the policy positioning and strategic engagement frameworks for unions, while partnering with Legal and Ops for localized/court dispute management.
  4. Reputation Frameworks: Develop a continuous drumbeat of trust-building initiatives and programmatic campaigns that position the company as a progressive partner to government, labor bodies, and civil society stakeholders.
  5. Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate closely with internal partners across Comms, Legal, Operations, and central policy to align policy campaigns with broader brand messaging, legal guardrails, and operational metrics.
  6. Regulatory Intelligence: Act as the national subject matter expert for your assigned charter, monitoring legislative developments, drafting whitepapers, and providing strategic counsel to leadership teams.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Experience: 7–8 years of professional experience in public policy, corporate affairs, government relations, or strategic advocacy within a matrixed global tech platform, high-growth marketplace, or highly regulated industry in India.
  2. Strategic Architecture: Proven track record of designing and scaling end-to-end public affairs campaigns at a national level, rather than just executing localized tactics.
  3. Comfort with Ambiguity: Proven agility to pick up new, complex regulatory portfolios quickly and design national strategy from scratch, even when the policy framework is evolving or undefined.
  4. Industrial Relations & Labor Acumen: Solid experience managing or engaging with labor unions, trade councils, or gig-economy advocacy groups in a complex, high-stakes stakeholder environment.
  5. Matrix Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across distributed regional teams (like state leads) and cross-functional departments without direct authority.
  6. Communication Mastery: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to synthesize complex legal or operational hurdles into compelling narratives for external government stakeholders.
  7. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Law, Political Science, Economics, Communications, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Master’s degree or advanced qualification in Public Policy, Business Administration (MBA), Law (LL.B/LL.M), or International Relations.
  2. Deep familiarity with India's evolving labor codes, transport regulations, and digital economy frameworks.
  3. Existing relationships with central ministries, central labor unions, national think tanks, or state-level transport departments.
  4. A self-motivated champion who thrives in ambiguity and can comfortably pivot between high-level policy design and on-the-ground operational alignment.
