About this role

In this role, you will build and manage a team of data analysts, data engineers and integration engineers to deploy solutions and develop predictive models leveraging the Viaduct AI platform. You and your team will work closely with pre-sales, customer success, and product teams to scope and deliver projects, while playing a critical role influencing the roadmap for the core platform. Your job duties will include:

Build and Manage Team

Your team will be responsible for all aspects of deploying, customizing, extending and in some cases operating Viaduct’s platform and pre-built solutions on behalf of our customers. You will staff your team with people that have the following skills sets:

  • Data Analysts - Understand and document business requirements, customize the application, develop dashboards and other extensions to the core product. Skills should include SQL, BI, PPT, XLS.
  • Data Scientists - Provide expertise on statistical concepts and develop complex models. Skills include SQL, Python, ML, Statistics
  • Data Engineering - Build and optimize data pipelines. Skills should include Airflow, Python, Spark optimization, etc…
  • Integration Engineering - Deploy and integrate our cloud platform with the customers environment. Skills should include cloud infrastructure, SSO, API development, DBA.

You and your team members will be customer-facing, but do not manage customer relationships. You will be the primary point of contact for the Commercial team that owns the customer relationship and works with customers/prospects to scope projects/POCs. You are responsible for assigning team members to projects/POCs, load-balancing, and looking ahead to project team needs into the future. In some circumstances involving particularly challenging projects, new products, or high work volumes, you may ask for help from product and engineering to ensure customer success.

Deliver Viaduct Solutions

You and your team will collaborate cross-functionally to deliver Viaduct Quality and Service solutions to our customers. Your key organizational interfaces will include:

  • Engagement Managers - part of the commercial organization, EMs are the primary point of contact for a customer and they manage all the customer interactions related to post-sales success. They will partner with you to scope projects, develop project execution plans and ensure that resources from your team are available to work on those projects.
  • Solution Architects -- part of the commercial organization, Solution Architects are a primary point of contact for a prospect and they manage all the interactions related to POC success. They will partner with you to scope pre-sales POCs, develop POC execution plans and ensure that resources from your team are available to work on those POCs.
  • Product Managers - Product Managers will be your primary point of contact for product assistance for new or complex product features. You will work with product managers to introduce new features to solve customer problems and make your team more efficient.
  • Product Engineering - Data Scientists, DEs, Dev Ops and other technical resources may at times be flexed on to the team to provide expert assistance for new features or simply to resolve resource bottlenecks.

Provide Technical Leadership

Because of your technical expertise, judgment, and central role in the organization, you will be a key influencer, problem solver and evangelist for Viaduct’s technology and product roadmap.

  • You will be expected to be a player-coach in the data science domain
  • You will need to provide technical guidance and implement data science projects
  • If the product doesn’t do exactly what you need, you and your team will bring those needs to the product team. You and your team might create version 0.5 of a feature or build your own productivity-enhancing tools outside the product to fill the gap.
  • You will be a key participant in product strategy and roadmap discussions with product managers and engineering leaders.
  • You and members of your team will routinely find yourself in customer and prospect meetings representing Viaduct as a product and technology expert and looking for creative solutions to their problems.

Minimum experience

  • 10+ years in engineering or delivery roles in an enterprise software, system integration or technology consulting company
  • MS or PhD in Data Science
  • Experience in data management, analytics, and data science
  • Have managed a team and hired people
  • You have owned the delivery of significant cross-functional technology projects

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Experience in delivering effective technical presentations to senior executives - decision-makers, IT executives, and SMEs

  • Ability to learn quickly with excellent analytical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead projects and work collaboratively across diverse teams

  • Get approval from the Security Team before adding new 3rd party software to our codebase
  • Explicitly consider security implications when doing PR reviews
