Job Description:
Machina Labs is seeking a seasoned Subject Matter Expert with a minimum of 5 years of experience to contribute expertise and foster successful collaborations with our team and external partners. This is an on-site position located in our HQ in Chatsworth, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program teams:
  • Work closely with cross-functional program teams to enhance section capabilities and define programmatic objectives, ensuring alignment with the company's overall vision.
  • Provide technical input and metallurgical guidance:
  • Apply your expertise in materials science and engineering to provide valuable technical input, particularly in the areas of process design and production execution.
  • Communicate Effectively With Company Leadership:
  • Regularly communicate the progress of key projects to senior leadership from Engineering, Marketing/Sales, and Manufacturing, ensuring transparency and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Interface with customers:
  • Play a pivotal role in interfacing with customers, participating in customer visits, and actively contributing to meetings related to specific parts or processes. Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Proposal preparation and project involvement:
  • Assist Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing by preparing proposals and contributing your metallurgical expertise to project discussions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of customer requirements.
  • Successful partnership establishment:
  • Establish and nurture successful partnerships with customers, ensuring alignment on project goals and delivering exceptional results. Collaborate closely with external partners to create an environment of mutual understanding and cooperation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in material science, metallurgy, engineering, or equivalent practical experience; Master's or Ph.D. in these disciplines is a plus!
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working or researching metallic processes, specifically in machining and highly complex assemblies.
  • Adept in a wide variety of advanced metallic treatments, processes, applications, and material knowledge.
  • Proven background in high tolerance applications in industries such as Automotive, Industrials, Aerospace and Defense, or Space.
  • Ability to lead multiple concurrent projects, be process-oriented, and adaptable to the needs of the customer.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end manufacturing processes for metallic systems, sub-systems, and parts is required.
